This form enables you to search for an organ containing work by a particular builder. In order not to generate impossibly long transfers, the number of buildings returned from a search will be restricted to four hundred. Use more keywords or make your keywords more specific to select fewer buildings.
Please fill in builder's name you wish to search on. The character % may be used as a wildcard to represent any string of characters.
Firm name
Note that this search behaves differently to that for addresses in that the system does not automatically insert a "%" at the end of the text you type. Thus "Harris" will find "Harris" and "Renatus Harris" but not "Harrison" and "Willis" will not find "Henry Willis and Sons". To find the latter use "Willis%"
The scope of the search can be restricted by giving one or more keywords from the address separated by spaces. Keywords should be significant, that is they should not contain "noise" words like "St." or "and". This can be particularly useful when you do not know which of the address fields to use. For instance, work in Norwich can be found by typing "Norwich".
Keywords
It is possible to restrict the search to within certain date bands. The default is to omit undated records, of which there are many, but you can ask for them to be included.
